Karel Capek Tea Review – The Tasty “Garden Party”

I remembered a few days ago, the first time I’ve seen a Karel Capek tea shop. So I decided to make a Karel Capek tea review because these teas are just amazing.

I was in Japan for the first time and I was already overwhelmed by everything that was surrounding me there. So many cherry blossoms, so many shrines, and smiles were all over the place. It felt like an enchanted land.

The fairytale tea shop

I was walking randomly and I suddenly seen it – the Karel Capek tea shop. It had colors that reminded me of childhood and so many nice details. When I stepped inside the fairytale-like small shop, I just stopped for a few seconds because I didn’t know where to start and what to see first.

Slowly approaching one of the shelves, I was admiring the lovely tea boxes. I was smiling and I had no idea why. Well, I kind of knew why since I love tea and this place felt like I belong there. The boxes had cute colors and drawings on them – my inner kid was totally happy and jumping around smelling the teas.

I admit I was confused. There were so many types teas and I was still confused about the currency conversion so I had no idea about the prices. But I just knew I wanted to try them. So I kept looking around and the sellers were in such a happy state that it was almost contagious. I wonder how is it to spend your entire day amid the colorful and happy teas.

After a bit more of marveling, my eyes remained in a small advertisement saying something about picking the flavors I want. So I didn’t have to choose only one box anymore!

Lovely tea options

I chose some of the teabags I thought I liked and I made myself a personalized pack. I had no idea how they taste like so I was just guided by the tea lover inside me and I was so right. Or maybe you can’t go wrong with their flavors even if you try because they were all delicious so far.

As I said, everything in Japan amazed me and they seem so mindful in everything they do. I am easily falling for nice packages and shopping bags, but the way they packed my teabags totally captivated me. It was such an adorable and sweet little bag that I almost didn’t dare to open it when I got back home.

This happened at the beginning of the year but I still have 2 more teabags left. I only use them when I need to lift up my spirit and feel like I deserve it. I couldn’t find them anywhere around and don’t know when I will go back to Japan next time.

So today I will try one of them. Not because I need it, just because I want to share the experience of the taste here with you.

The tea is called “Garden Party” and it has a playful drawing on it. There are 2 happy (yes, they even have smiles on their faces) bees gardening and taking care of their flowers. You can also see 2 butterflies around and the flowers.

It is such a cheerful atmosphere in that little picture that it feels contagious. One of the bees is even wearing gardening boots, which extremely cute. The other bee is flying around and watering the flowers.

I have no idea what it contains as all the description is in Japanese but the color and the design caught my attention. It does say in English that it is decaf.

Looking on the back of it, I do understand the digits at least so it says to brew it for 2.5 minutes.

First impression

When I opened the tea bag, I felt a really strong perfume, a combination of sweet and fruity and I almost felt the taste just by smelling it. The tea leaves looked like the green tea ones but it is mentioned that they took out the caffeine content. So I prepared my tea mug and I boiled the water.

Here is my brewed cup. The color is somewhere between black tea and fruit tea. It still has a strong sweet smell, which I find familiar somehow but I can’t identify it. I tried to translate the back of the tea bag and it mentions something about rose but it is stronger than that. Maybe more on the garden rose than the ones we buy in shops and it is mixed with something else. Together they make me smile like the happy bees.

The taste is velvety and sweet with a bit of a green tea kick. And the after taste is actually stronger than the initial taste. Can I say that is tastes like happiness? Because it does!

Conclusion

This is one of my favorite tea brands. It is a pity that there is no shop around. But soon I will probably order some from an online shop if they deliver to Europe. I like the feeling of having them around to soothe my soul with whenever I want to.

The tea-drinking experience itself is soothing by default but this specific brand of tea is adding a special something to it. I could say that it feels like this tea is designed to feed the playful inner child.

I totally agree that most of the times the smell is much better than the taste for the fruit teas 🙂

I love tea!! My favourite is a builders tea, milk and 2 sugars. But I do like to try others to. This one looks really nice.

I really want to like fruit teas but I’ve not tried one I like yet. My friend has just given me some to try so I will keep going until I (hopefully) find one I like! #KCACOLS

Yes, most of them just end up having a sour taste, but there are some really nicely flavored ones too. I hope you will find one of them 🙂
