Hello again and since is the first post this year I wish you happy New Year! I hope you will have a good year filled with joy and delicious teas.
Since it is already late in the month I thought I could pick one of the various teas I enjoy every day as my favorite of the month. Hopefully this will be the first post in a series called “Favorite Tea of the Month”
Since meanwhile I had to move and a big part of my things are still waiting to be delivered, I didn’t really have with me my regular teas this month. But of course I didn’t stop drinking them; I just went and bought me some more, of course!
Because I also had a bad sore throat last week, I focused on the benefits of each tea and now I realized which are the most important teas for me. I will write another post about my “must have” teas and why I always like to have them around.
Coming back to January’s favorite tea, I choose Mint tea. I mentioned it before in my daily favorites but I didn’t talk too much about its benefits.
Mint Tea – Why?
First of all, I might be biased because of the sore throat and the cold I had, but I really enjoy the smell of mint. And to be honest, the combination of mint tea with lemon and honey is the true definition of tea for when I have a cold. I don’t usually add anything to tea when I drink it because I like to enjoy the simple taste of the plants. But this time to help with recovery I went overboard with honey and lemon. The menthol also helps relaxing the muscles of the throat helping to stop the coughing and ease the sore throat.
Mint tea also helps with digestion and it is my go-to tea after a heavy meal or whenever I feel I had too much to eat and my digestion is slowed down. It helps me when I feel bloated or even nauseous.
Because of the menthol contained, it helps moving the gas through the body and stimulates the bile flow. This way it helps with bloating, stomach discomfort and improves digestion.
Some people prefer it in the morning instead of coffee, to wake them up. Mint is a mild stimulant and it can help you to kick-start the day. Because of the cool refreshing flavor, the body will feel more invigorated and the mind more focused.
You can enjoy mint tea in various ways. You have the option to use the tea bags, the loose leaves or even the fresh mint. My favorite is the fresh mint indeed but I don’t always have the option to have that, this is why most of the times I am using the tea bags. This way is easier to always have in on hand. I even carry 1 in my bag to have it whenever I feel like I could use its benefits. All I have to ask for is some hot water and I can enjoy it on the spot!
The price of mint tea varies but generally it is cheap. Of course depending on the quality of the plant, you can find more expensive ones as well. I generally go for the ones in between and I make sure that it doesn’t contain any extra ingredients or aromas.
As you might have guessed, yes I also had a mint tea while I wrote this. It helps to refresh my experience and make it more authentic when I tell you about it.
I hope you enjoyed reading about it and I am curious what is your favorite tea this month?
