17 Things Only True Tea-lovers Will Understand

17 Things Only True Tea-lovers Will Understand www.gabriela.green
If you think of tea whenever you hear a kettle and some boiling water, if you just finished drinking a teacup or you have one around right now (I do!), then you’re in the right place.

Tea lovers are almost a different species. We truly believe in the miraculous effects of tea. Tea lovers include more tea in our day than other people would consider as “normal”. We see tea as an art and a great natural and simple gift we get from nature. We know that tea is delicious and we want to show this to many more people out there.

These are a few reasons for which other people don’t really understand our behavior sometimes.

17 things that only true tea-lovers will understand

(the rest of the world will keep asking: but why?!)

1. You know the exact color your tea needs to have

Because you want your tea to be perfectly brewed and because you’ve been training at this several times a day, you definitely know exactly how your tea should look like. No darker or lighter shades of amber-like drink are accepted!

2. The way your cup of tea gives you a moment of relaxation

Tea gives you a peaceful moment. You have you own little tea ritual and this helps you relax. It doesn’t have to be a complex one – just something which defines your tea-making moment.

3. You take your tea with you even on holiday

Well, of course, you do! They don’t have your favorite teas in the hotel or restaurants. Not to mention the fact that they don’t seem to know what loose leaf tea is!

4. You can never have too much tea

Your morning starts with tea, then it continues with tea and after other few cups of tea, the day ends with another cup of tea, of course. You know what tea you need to drink next depending on what time of the day is.

5. So many times you tell yourself that you will not buy tea when you go shopping!

Just because you have enough tea, it doesn’t mean you have it all, right? When you see that the space in the cupboard becomes too small for your collection, you are at least trying to prevent yourself from buying more. Yes, we know…you kind of fail at this when you reach the tea area.

6. The way you cringe when you see somebody leaves their green in tea in the cup for..ever!

Oh, I just cringed only at the thought of oversteeping green tea. Did you know that there are people out there who think that the bitter taste is actually how green tea is supposed to taste? I was shocked when someone told me that she likes green tea and that is how it is supposed to taste like!

7. You have no idea how many teas you own anymore

Why even bother? As long as you are sure you will never run out of tea, the world seems a better place. And you will get to drink them in time anyway…at some point. Who believes in the expiration date of the tea anyway?

8. You are afraid when somebody you don’t know offers to make you a cup of tea

The horror of having to be polite to someone who offers to make you a cup of tea! And the questions start running through your head: what kind of “tea”? Is it a teabag? what if it is not a natural tea and it has flavors added? Do they know for how long to steep it? Oh, should I tell them I don’t want sugar? Should I offer to make it myself?!

9. You truly believe in the benefits of tea

Whenever you hear someone having some sort of problem, your first thought will be: humm what tea could I recommend for that? Because you know the benefits of tea and they are so many!

10. Of course, tea is a summer drink!

People might look at you in a strange way when you are brewing your cup of tea on a hot summer weather. But this is not a problem for you. Few extra degrees will not make you give up on your favorite drink!

11. You can’t really trust people who don’t drink tea at all

You cannot imagine a day without tea and you enjoy every sip of it. this is why when it comes to people who don’t drink tea you become a bit skeptical. What would anyone NOT like tea? Tea is delicious!

12. This drink is not “just” tea

Tea is a great drink full of benefits and it can warm your body and soul whenever is needed. Tea is an entire culture and a way to show your body how much you love it. Of course, it is not “just” tea.

13. You have specific teas for specific occasions

Depending on the time of day, in the morning you might want an energizing tea, after eating you might prefer something to help with digestion and in the evening something to help you sleep like a baby. Depending on how you feel, where you are or what you are doing, you have your specific tea which goes perfectly with the situation.

14. Tea is cheering you up

The preparation of tea itself is a ritual you always enjoy. The warm cup of tea full of your favorite tea will cheer you up instantly. You might not have a proper explanation for it but it just is what it is: happiness in a tea-cup

15. And when tea doesn’t cheer you up, then it’s a dangerous situation for the people around you !

Well, this might be a really serious problem you are facing if tea doesn’t bring you any kind of joy. You might as well take a day off and stay away from people. Just brew, drink, rinse and repeat until it goes away.

16. Getting disappointed when you have only bagged tea available

Teabags are like the last resort for having a cup of tea if nothing else is available. There is a reason for which there are tea strainers and loose leaf teas in the world, and the reason is to enjoy a properly made cup of tea.

17. You’ll never get bored of receiving tea and tea accessories as a gift

Only the thought of receiving a new tea or mug or anything related to tea makes you excited. It is always great to add a new item to your collection ad I am sure that your close friends know exactly what is your favorite flavor of tea.

That can be true indeed and I am sure that you can also find good quality tea bags 🙂 I know they are easier to handle than all the extra steps you need to take with the loose-leaf. Thank you for stopping by and here’s to more teacups!

I completely related to ALL of these things LOL especially #3! I am always taking my tea with me and I even have a small strainer that I can just place in any cup to make sure that I can brew it. Of course the hotels never have loose-leaf! LOL

Thank you for sharing and keep up the good work!
